16-19 Bursary Fund

If you are studying for a qualification up to and including Level 3, there are a range of financial options available to you.


The Standard 16-19 Bursary Fund is available to students aged 16-18 with a total household income of less that £26,000 per year, to support them to continue in full time education and training by providing a contribution towards the costs of attending College such as transport, food, equipment and other course related costs. This fund is also available to students aged 19 or over with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and to students aged 19 or over and continuing on a study programme which began when they were aged 16-18.


The Full 16-19 Bursary Fund of £1,200 per year is available to young people aged 16-18 who are in one of the following priority groups:

  • In care
  • Care leaver
  • Disabled young person receiving both Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) and Disability Allowance (DSA) or Personal Independence Payment (PIP) in your own name
  • In receipt of Employment and Support Allowance or Universal Credit and Disability Living or Personal Independence payment in your own name
