Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry

This course provides you with a further opportunity to develop your carpentry skills. You will also further your knowledge in literacy and numeracy. This course is for anyone interested in a career in carpentry.

  • Entry Requirements


    Following application, we will invite you to an Applicants Event where you will receive information, advice, and guidance about the course you have applied for. This will be an opportunity for you to gain valuable information about the course and give you the opportunity to ask any questions you may have. You will provide a copy of your last school report and / or a reference from an employer or relevant professional other. This is to ensure we can support you to be able to achieve well on the course. 4 x GCSEs at D/3 or above, or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject. Your GCSE profile must include either maths and /or English, or a Functional Skills qualification in maths and/or English.

    Health and Safety Knowledge of construction technology Access Equipment The use of a variety of hand tools and portable power tools Materials and equipment Understanding of quantities and communication Roof Construction Stud Walling Kitchen Fitting Internal Joinery Staircases First and second fixing

    This course provides excellent training for work in the construction industry. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the next level. There are lots of opportunities available to you to progress across the South Thames Colleges Group and into the world beyond education. During your time with us you will have access to a dedicated team of careers and education advisors who will help you as you take the next steps towards achieving your goals.

  • Course Structure


    Learners also attend exhibitions such as IFSEC, ELEX, NIC and London ExCel Centre. Site visits - Contractors include Berkley Homes, Barratt Homes and Willmott-Dixon. A significant number of 16-18 learners complete work experience through local employers and through College based projects, gaining relevant skills to increase their employability.
