Following the success of last year’s employability week and to coincide with the National Careers and Apprenticeships Week, the careers team at Merton College and Carshalton College are hosting student employability events throughout March.
Employability Month gives our students an opportunity to find out about future employment, careers, training and Apprenticeship opportunities that may be available.
By meeting employers and sector organisations students will gain an invaluable insight into the world of work.
Students from Merton College and Carshalton College had the opportunity to speak to employers from a range of industries at our Employer Fair held at Merton College, on Wednesday 6 March. Employers included the NHS and St. Georges, Bupa, Metrobank, FLO (Ferrovial Agroman Laing O'Rourke), Northern Line Extension, Business Clan, Marriott International, Ardmore Construction, Inside Marketing and many more!
We also held employer-led mock interviews which provides students with an invaluable opportunity to identify their skills and achievements, engage with employers and conduct themselves in a professional manner.
We will also be hosting a series of employability themed workshops, including bespoke careers talks from employers, and sessions designed to build employability skills, for example: ‘Interview skills’, ‘CV masterclasses’, ‘Job Seeking through Social Media’.
