South Thames Colleges Group is a Kickstart gateway, meaning that we can help you apply for the Kickstart Scheme, as well as offering training and support to your participants, at no cost to your business.

WHAT IS THE KICKSTART SCHEME?

The Kickstart Scheme provides funding to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment. Employers of all sizes can apply for funding.

This is a great opportunity for you to discover new talent, and train young people to develop skills that can be used to support your business.

HOW IS THE KICKSTART SCHEME FUNDED?

There is funding available for 100% of the age-relevant National Minimum Wage for 25 hours a week. As well as funding the wages, the Kickstart Scheme will also make National Insurance and employer pension contributions.

There is also £1,500 per job placement for employers, which covers setup costs, support, equipment and trainin.

HOW LONG WILL KICKSTART SCHEME LAST?

Each placement lasts 6-months, with the Kickstart Scheme being delivered until December 2021.

Once the placement is complete, we can support the participant with further training and support in finding long term employment.

HOW DO I APPLY?

Applications for the Kickstart Scheme must be for a minimum of 30 job placements. Many employers will be offering less than 30 placements, but the good news is you can access the scheme using a gateway organisation, such as South Thames Colleges Group. We will ask you for information about your company and the job vacancies you are hoping to fill and we will apply for your Kickstart placements with other employers in order to reach the minimum 30 job vacancies per application.
