Childcare and Early Years

Working with children is definitely rewarding and more than ‘just a job’. Most children and young people have a natural curiosity, a sense of wonder and enthusiasm for play and learning, which has a positive effect on all those who work with them. Equally, they need to be encouraged and supported by people who bring the same enthusiasm to these experiences as they have. In addition, early years practitioners need to have good interpersonal skills, such as patience, a friendly manner, and the ability to communicate with children, young people, colleagues and other adults such as parents and carers.

I really enjoyed the discussions, debates and interactive activities during our lectures, which brought our learning to life. Emma Duke, BA (Hons) in Early Childhood Education
