AutoCAD Level 2 - City & Guilds - Award in 2D Computer Aided Design (7689-04)

This AutoCAD course will prepare learners with the basic understanding and principles of 2D drawing environment, in terms of hardware, software and physical surroundings. It will explore the typical composition of a CAD system and health and safety matters that are associated with safe working practices. This course is taught at Carshalton College so is ideal for those based in Sutton, Surrey and London.


You will learn how to:

  • Use a CAD workstation safely Use associated IT, CAD hardware and operating systems.
  • Use key components in 2D CAD software
  • Create lines and shapes relative to a co-ordinate system
  • Use text, hatch and simple dimensioning routines
  • Modify existing drawings
  • Output a 2D drawing layout


In-class timed Formal Assignment. To successfully achieve these Qualifications your Attendance and Punctuality on the courses are expected to be 100% and to meet all course work Deadlines set.

Entry  Requirements

No formal qualifications are required, through an appreciation and understanding of Engineering drawing is desirable.

Level 2 is ideal if you have some experience in computing, perhaps in manufacturing or engineering design, and want to increase your knowledge and skills and progress in your career.


20 weeks & one Saturday for assessment, 3 hours per week (includes tutorial) plus an estimated 4 to 6 hours a week of personal study using AutoCAD software.


After successfully achieving this Level 2 Qualification you can progress onto a Level 3 AutoCAD Course.
