This Level 1 qualification covers the basic technical needs for today's motor vehicle repair industry. It provides essential knowledge for service technicians working on light vehicles (cars and vans) in all types of garages, dealership and maintenance depots. It is a learning programme which involves students studying both theory and practical aspects of the following:
- Health and Safety for Motor Vehicle studies
- Introduction to engineering, equipment and materials
- Introduction to braking, steering and suspension systems
- Introduction to wheel, tyre and exhaust systems
- Introduction to vehicle electrical systems.
- Motor Vehicle Practical
- Motor Vehicle Theory
- Functional / Basic Skills
- Observation of practical work
- Written assessment
- Oral assessments
Entry RequirementsApplicants should have an interest in the chosen vocational course. Entry will be subject to an application and interview to demonstrate that you have the enthusiasm and willingness to succeed on the course.
SuitabilityStudents currently attending local schools in years 10 & 11 wishing to undertake vocational training.
3 hours per week for 2 years. Day of week to be confirmed, classes usually held 1.30pm-4.30pm
