Teams from five local primary schools took part in the first ever Indoor Athletics Event last Tuesday, 13th January. The Year 1 Level 3 Sports students acted as leaders for over 100 pupils for one of the heats.

Hosted at Carshalton College, the Year 1 Level 3 Sports students acted as leaders during the athletics event. Ian Webb, Sport Coordinator at Carshalton College commented “the students did a fantastic job setting up the heats, demonstrating it to the children and then judging before deciding on the scores. The young primary school athletes took part in field events which included relays, sprints, long jump, triple jump, high jump, javelin and ball throw.

Tracey Milbourn, Sutton School Games Organiser commented “Congratulations to all Year 1 Level 3 Sports students who were exemplary role models for this event.”

“During the training they listened well, learnt fast and carried out their tasks with minimum fuss and maximum efficiency.”

“Their natural enthusiasm and encouragement for the pupils during their races and events was fantastic and were a credit to Carshalton College and thank you to Carshalton College for hosting one of our primary sports athletics heats.”
