Tips for Studying in Year 11

Be GCSE ready with our study tips below. Revise smart and worry less!

  • 1. Time Management

Time Management - Don’t leave revision to the last minute. Have a diary with a daily ‘things to do’ list to keep you on track. Plan for the term: enter assignment deadlines and exam dates and include social commitments you don’t want to miss

  • 2. Time of Day

Work out what time of the day works for you to study and stick to it; some people prefer studying first thing in the morning and others in the evening. If you stick to a certain time each day, it will be easier to make it a part of your daily routine.

  • 3. Learning Style

Take the Learning Styles Quiz. Once you know which way you learn best you will be able to maximise the output of your study time

  • 4. Take Breaks

It is important to take regular breaks, it is better to study each day for a shorter amount of time than trying to cram everything into one day, as working for too long will decrease your performance. Make sure your breaks are spent away from where you study, go for a walk, play sport, or chat to family and friends (don’t spend your break at your desk scrolling through your phone!).

  • 5. Set Goals

Have aims for what you want to achieve and what you need to understand, set these when you write out your revision timetable. You can adjust as you go but it is important to have steps to aim for leading up to the exam.
