Congratulations to our team at Elmwood Nursery for successfully achieving the Healthy Early Years London First Steps and Bronze Awards.

This is a wonderful achievement in taking such important steps to improve the health, wellbeing and development of the nursery children, staff and families.

This initiative was created by the Mayor of London.  All children deserve a healthy start to life. Yet by the time they start school, many children are already falling behind in terms of their health and development.

By the age of five…• one in five children are overweight or obese • one in four have tooth decay • one in eight fail expected social and emotional development goals.

That’s why last autumn, the Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan launched Healthy Early Years London. It’s a new scheme to reward and recognise early years providers that do the best for their children’s health and wellbeing.

There are four levels of awards to work towards – First Steps, Bronze, Silver and Gold. The scheme’s designed for use in all childcare settings from nurseries, to creches, children’s centres and childminders.
