On Thursday 30 November, Kingston College Business students were invited to attend a festive celebration in Downing Street, ahead of Small Business Saturday, which was transformed into a Christmas market with stalls from a wide range of British businesses showcasing their products. Guests also enjoyed food and drink from businesses across the UK, while listening to festive music from the London Community Gospel Choir and a military band.

The group of 8 second year Business students, accompanied by two of their tutors, were able to ask the business owners about the setting up of their businesses and some of the highs and lows of running their own enterprises - as well as enjoying tasting the different products. The students and their tutors agreed it was a very enjoyable evening and a great start to the run up to Christmas.

Student, Victoria Ndhlovu, said: "I enjoyed the event very much. I learnt so much insight when it comes to entrepreneurship and the importance of advertising and making your business known. That strong brand awareness. It inspired me to want to run my own business!!"

The Prime Minister later visited the market stalls and spoke to guests after leading a countdown to turn on the Christmas lights outside Number 10.

Small Business Saturday is an annual grassroots campaign that encourages people to support small businesses in their communities.
